Community Pinwheel Gardens planted in nine cities during Child Abuse Prevention Month

Prevent Child Abuse Louisiana has joined with local partners in nine cities across the state to plant community pinwheel gardens to raise awareness of Child Abuse Prevention Month.

This year was the first time to plant a garden in Alexandria. Other gardens have been planted in Hammond, New Orleans, Lafayette, Baton Rouge, Houma, Thibodaux, Lake Charles and Sulphur.

In Baton Rouge, First Lady Donna Edwards joined the planting, and Gov. Edwards declared April as Child Abuse Prevention Month in Louisiana. Mrs. Edwards is the Honorary Chairwoman of PCA Louisiana’s Child Abuse Prevention Month activities, and she also held a pinwheel planting at the Governor’s Mansion with members of her family.

Thank you to all of our partners for making these plantings such a success!
