The Nurturing Parenting Programs are a family-centered, trauma-informed initiative designed to meet each family’s needs based on their parenting strengths and weaknesses. The programs are designed for each of the three levels of prevention that are commonly recognized in the fields of social work, mental health and medicine: primary, secondary and tertiary.
Nurturing the Families of Louisiana – is an intensive, 16-week program designed to help parents and children reduce dysfunction and build healthy, positive relationships. The program is designed with five core concepts: developmental expectations of children, empathy in response to children, alternative ways to discipline, parent-child roles and implementing children’s power and independence.
Nurturing Parenting Series – short workshops for parenting groups, corporations, neighborhood programs and churches to increase awareness about child abuse and neglect issues, as well as parenting knowledge and skills. Please note that some fees may be associated with workshops for a trainer’s travel costs and for materials.
