The Pinwheels for Prevention public awareness campaign motivates individuals to take an active role in prevention in their communities.
Did you know the pinwheel is the national symbol for healthy, happy children? Every April, we join others across the nation in planting or distributing blue pinwheels to raise awareness of the role we all play in supporting families and children.
In 2018 we planted Community Pinwheel Gardens in Shreveport and Monroe and held “Pass the Pinwheel” events in Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Lafayette, Hammond, New Orleans, Houma and Thibodaux.
Schools, businesses, churches and community groups are invited to show your support by: planting your own pinwheel gardens, passing pinwheels to adults who are supporting children and families, or posting Paper Pinwheels at your place of worship/business/school for $1 donations.
